6/4/07 - Old Time Social at Conor Byrne Pub
The NW Folklife Festival was tons of fun for us, more great music, jams, & dances than you could shake a stick at! We want to keep the momentum going, and the Tuesday Old Time Socials have been a great outlet for all that spring-time energy. The turn out has been great (20+ musicians) at the first two, so come down & join us!

And, the Tractor Tavern Square Dances have been such a hit, we're continuing the series on through the summer. Next one is on Monday June 11th with Michael Ismerio from Portland calling. Also, if you've been looking for an opportunity to get the whole family envolved, we're playing at the family-friendly South End Square Dance on Friday June 29th...see our schedule for details.

Also, check out page 88 of June's issue of Seattle Magazine - Charlie & I got the whole page!

4/18/07 - New Album from Shout Lulu
Many of you know Paul & Skye McGowen. Paul used to be in The Tallboys and now he and Skye live in Fayetteville, Arkansas where they've formed a band called Shout Lulu. They've just released a great set of tunes & songs called: "A Long Time Ago-go." The regular line-up includes the two of them, and Pete Howard. Paul plays various banjos & guitar, Skye plays baritone ukulele, banjolele & dances, and Pete plays a sassy fiddle. Guest appearing are Curly Miller on bowed bass, and Carole Anne Rose on her specially designed and built banjo-guitar thing. It's some good music!
Here's the link to their SongSlide page where the music can be heard and purchased for download: http://www.songslide.com/ArtistDetail.aspx?ArtistID=84
You can also see their website at www.shoutlulu.com

2/9/07 - Photo in The Stranger
The Stranger has lovingly plastered our picture on this weeks Live Music Calender - check it out! It's the sweetest Valentine we've gotten :)

2/5/07 - Sweethearts' Square Dance & more!
Got another great square dance planned for Monday Feb 12th, bring your sweety to the Tractor for some pre-Valentine's dancin'! Square Dancing is about the easiest and funnest way to get your dancing on, no difficult moves and we keep the dances simple and low-pressure - so don't hesitate to come down if your a beginner! Even when the dancers get jumbled up, it's still hilarious and fun - and Paul Silveria will be coming up from Portland teaching and calling super fun dances.
Also, if your interested in helping distribute flyers/posters to help get the word out for future square dances, please email me at charmaine@thetallboys.com and I'll hook you up with some materials. The more people we get dancin', the funner it is! Thanks!

1/9/07 - Lauching of Songslide
John Hurd, our bassist, has launched a great new website where you can pick the price for MP3's by independent artists. Check it out, it's a great resource for music being made right here in the Northwest, and a huge percentage of the money goes directly to the artists! If you're a musician with recorded music, sign up and get your recordings heard! www.songslide.com

12/25/06 - Clogging Workshops are now being offered
For those of you that have caught a bad case of clog-dance fever, Charmaine Slaven is now offering instructional workshops at Velocity Dance Studio. 12/25/06 - Write up in the Stranger & the Seattle Weekly!
Thanks to Kim Hayden of the Stranger for the Dec 14th write-up about the Dec 18th Square Dance for the "Up & Coming" column, and to Brian Barr of the Seattle Weekly for the picture & write-up about The Tallboys at the Dec 20th show at The Tractor. We tip our hats to you fine folks!

10/15/06 - First Square Dance was a'rockin'!
Wow! The first square dance at the Tractor was a whole lot of fun & earned a good bit of funds for Seattle Tilth! There wasn't an inch of space left on the dance floor, so "thanks" to all who came to dance. You're next Tractor Square Dance opportunity is "Turkey in The Straw" on Monday Nov 13th - bring an instrument to join our open jam for the first hour, a dish for the appetizer potluck, and dance to the calling of Tony Mates starting at 8 PM...there's no better way to get your pre-thanksgiving exercize in!

10/1/06 - Monthly Square Dances in Seattle!
The Tractor Tavern in Ballard is working with us in creating a monthly square dance series through the fall & winter months. We're hoping that these fired-up, exciting dances will boost interest in square dancing in Seattle, as we'd like to match the Portland Old Time community in their enthusiam for dancing. This is a great way to help ward off the wintertime blues! All dances will be taught and lead by an experienced dance caller, so no experience necessary! We've got spectacular local caller, Tony Mates, on board for the first couple of dances. We are also kicking off alot of these dances with an open old time jam, so it will be a great opportunity to share tunes. Bring an appetizer to share, some good dancing shoes, and an instrument. First dance is also a benefit for Seattle Tilth - Seattle's nonprofit organic gardening education group. See our schedule for specific dates of the upcoming dances or contact us for more information...

10/1/06 - Recording
We're pleased to announce that we're going back to the studio this October to record a new album. We hope to have it out early 2007, so stay tuned!
